Celebrities Tie the Knot in Las Vegas

Las Vegas is a place where people go to get away, to have fun, relax, and start over. A beautiful place with energy unlike that of any other city, Las Vegas is also a city where people go to get married. With beautiful landscapes, great hotels and restaurants, and so many places to get married it is not only every day people that get married here, but celebrities as well. In fact, some of the most well known celebrities in the past and present have tied the knot in Las Vegas!

There are literally hundreds of places where you could get married, either on the strip or right off of it, but there are a couple of places that celebrities seem to frequent with those that they love. One of the most common places for celebrities to tie the knot in Las Vegas is the Little White Wedding Chapel. Another very common place is the Little Church of the West. Of course, with so many hotels and casinos in the area, a good deal of celebrities have been wed at Caesar's Palace, the Flamingo, the Sands, and other hotels. Most of the hotels and casinos have their own chapels, which makes tying the knot in this great city even easier for celebrities and every day people, as well.

One of the most highly publicized celebrity weddings in Las Vegas was in 2004. The wedding was that of Britney Spears and her friend Jason Allen Alexander. The two were married in the Little White Wedding Chapel, though the marriage lasted just hours after the two realized that they had made a huge mistake and were not ready for such a commitment.

Las Vegas isn't just for the rock and pop stars, there are also some very grounded, serious people that get married in Las Vegas such as tennis star Andre Agassi and his tennis great wife, Steffi Graf, who were married in Vegas in 2001. Of course, that same year British pop sensation Chris Evans and pop singer/actress Billie Piper were also married in Vegas in the Little Church of the West. The year before, in 2000, Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton were also married in the Little Church of the West. Also married in 2000 were Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks and her husband Adrian Pasdar, who were married in the Little White Chapel. Married in the same location on a different day was the wrestler Stone Cold Steve Austin and his wife Debra Marshall.

In 2000 Las Vegas had a televised wedding when Rick Rockwell married Darva Conger, after the two met on the television show "Who Wants to Marry a Multi-Millionaire". The two were married at the Las Vegas Hilton after weeks on the show that coupled the two together. The wedding was a hit with viewers who were all excited for the two to tie the knot!

Las Vegas Weddings are popular with Celebrities

In 1998 the basketball star Dennis Rodman married Carmen Electra in the Little Chapel of the Flowers. The wedding was all over in the gossip magazines as the two seemed like such an odd match. While the marriage is over, the wedding is still a favorite topic of some!

In 1996 Clint Eastwood also traveled to Las Vegas with love on his mind. He married Dina Ruiz, a news anchor. Rappers also find that Las Vegas is for love, as Coolio tied the knot the same year as Eastwood. Coolio married DJ Josefa Salinas. Also in 1996 was the Las Vegas wedding of the lovely Kelly Ripa and her actor husband, Mark Consuelos.

Las Vegas saw its share of celebrity weddings in the early 1990s as well, with Richard Gere and Cindy Crawford tying the knot in 1991 and musician Axl Rose saying "I do" the year before in 1990. Of course, Las Vegas was drawing celebrities for wedding purposes before the 1990s. Michael Jordan and his wife were married in the Little White Chapel in the late 1980s, joining them the same year was the actor Corey Feldman and his wife Vanessa Marcil. Two years before Corey Feldman and his wife, Demi Moore and Bruce Willis said "I do" in the Little White Chapel.

The 1970s was a time for celebrity weddings in Las Vegas, as well. Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson tied the knot in 1976, while Freddie Prinze and Katherine Cochran were married the year earlier. Diana Ross was also married in Las Vegas in the 1970s, when she married Robert Silverstein at the Silver Bells Chapel. The year before Diana Ross was the marriage of Patty Duke and Michael Tell, who married in the well known Little White Chapel.

Celebrity weddings have taken place in Las Vegas since Las Vegas was Las Vegas and Hollywood was Hollywood. Some of the big names in the 1950s and the 1960s were Wayne Newton, Elvis Presley, Mickey Rooney, Frank Sinatra, Mia Farrow, Jane Fonda, Judy Garland, Cary Grant, and Mary Tyler Moore. Some of the biggest names in show business have been married in Las Vegas over the years, so those that are tying the knot now are not doing anything that has not been done before.

There are a lot of people that warn that celebrities that get married in Vegas don't stay married for long, but that isn't always the case. If you look at celebrities that get married anywhere, they typically have short lived marriages so it's not fair to say that it's just those that get married in Vegas that fail. Some of the celebrities such as Kelly Ripa and her husband are still married and have kids and seem very happy. Those that want to make it work, make it work, regardless of where they get married.

Celebrities are just like us; sometimes they just want to make their relationships official. Some of them work, and some of them do not. Whether they'll stay together or not is something that remains to be seen. What can be said is that if you go to either the Little White Chapel or the Little Church of the West you just may see a celebrity tying the knot!
